Prayers of the People

Presider:  Generous God, you raise up the humble and poor, and you inspire us to generosity and love:  Hear us as we offer our intercessions on behalf of your creation, saying:  Christ our High Priest makes intercession for us, in the presence of God on our behalf.

Litanist:  You have purified your Church as Christ is pure, for Jesus has entered into heaven itself as our high priest who removes sin from the earth:  Fill us with generosity and faith, that we may reflect your loving compassion and grace throughout creation.
Christ our High Priest makes intercession for us,
in the presence of God on our behalf.

Watch over the city and build our house, O God:  Enlighten our leaders and all in authority to forego the appearance of piety, the abuse of privilege, and the selfishness of power; that they may lift up those who are bowed down, sustain the orphan and widow, and lead generously on behalf of the humble.
Christ our High Priest makes intercession for us,
in the presence of God on our behalf.

You see when the poor and humble give generously out of their poverty and when the privileged and wealthy contribute out of their abundance:  Be present in your mercy as a restorer of life and a nourisher in our old age.
Christ our High Priest makes intercession for us,
in the presence of God on our behalf.

You call all in our community to the responsibilities of stewardship and mutual care:  Grant us everything necessary for our common life and lead us to share so freely that none may be alone or in want.
Christ our High Priest makes intercession for us,
in the presence of God on our behalf.

You bless us with children and honor us with age:  Hear our grateful thanks, especially for ___.
You have promised to save those who are eagerly waiting for you:  Receive into your eternal and glorious kingdom those who have died, especially ___.
Christ our High Priest makes intercession for us,
in the presence of God on our behalf.

Presider:  Loving and gracious God, you care for all whom you have made and you invite us into your life of abundant charity:  Give us generous and compassionate hearts, that we may live in unity with one another in the Spirit of Jesus Christ our Savior, to whom we give glory, forever and ever.  Amen.

Prayers of the People

Presider:  Generous God, who gives justice to those who are oppressed and food to those who hunger:  Hear us as we offer our intercessions on behalf of your creation, saying:  Happy are they whose hope is in their God.  Praise God, O my soul!

Litanist:  You have purified your Church as Christ is pure, for he has entered into heaven itself as our high priest who removes sin from the earth:  Fill us with generosity and faith, that we may reflect your loving compassion and grace throughout creation.

You love the righteous and care for the stranger, O God:  Enlighten our leaders and all in authority to forego the appearance of piety, the abuse of privilege, and the selfishness of power; that they may lift up those who are bowed down, sustain the orphan and widow, and lead generously on behalf of the humble.
Happy are they whose hope is in their God.
Praise God, O my soul!

You see when the poor and humble give generously out of their poverty and when the privileged and wealthy contribute out of their abundance:  Be present in your mercy with those who must gather sticks to live on a morsel of bread and a handful of meal, and do not let the jar of meal be emptied nor the jug of oil fail until your blessing of abundance falls upon the earth.
Happy are they whose hope is in their God.
Praise God, O my soul!

You call all in our community to the responsibilities of stewardship and mutual care:  Grant us everything necessary for our common life and lead us to share so freely that none may be alone or in want.
Happy are they whose hope is in their God.
Praise God, O my soul!
